He said mischievously.
“Baby, it’s cold outside!” is a famous Christmas song. However, now that we started analyzing old songs we used to love and sing, we realized how problematic some of our childhood songs are. With this image, I wanted to talk about one of them.
In the song, a woman and a man are having a nice time. But, it’s time for the woman to go home. She keeps insisting she needs to leave while the man comes up with all the different reasons why she should not. The song clip even shows how invasive he is and has no sense of personal space. Sadly, the song ends with the woman staying for longer. With the image, I tried to change the ending.
The spider, a predator, is used as a metaphor for the man. The webs in the background show how he is trying to trap its prey. Fortunately, the prey has already escaped, so all that a spider can do during the chilly weather is call out “baby, it’s cold outside.”
P.s. I wrote this article before Christmas in 2021 and am only now posting it. I’m well aware it’s a bit off-topic, especially right after catholic easter and before orthodox easter. It may seem like I mixed up some holidays. Hehe.
